Watermelon Festival in Carytown

The annual Carytown Watermelon Festival draws a huge crowd - over 100,000 people on foot in the shopping district where our church's Reading Room is located. With our doors open - literally - to the festival-goers, we distributed free literature, cold water, and our loving presence in the community. Several people came into the Reading Room to browse, some saying they'd always been curious about Christian Science. We had some lovely conversations, corrected some misimpressions, and re-filled the cold water jug constantly.

Everyone and anyone is welcome to visit the Reading Room at 3431 W. Cary Street, Richmond, Virginia. The Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, as well as other authorized literature and research volumes, are available to be read or purchased. We also sell The Christian Science Monitor.

A Healing Church

I get a thrill every time I heard read from the desk, "This is a healing church." How true. From physical ills to relationships, to praying for the world, we put our religion into action. You can't sit on your duff and expect to see results. Prayer is an active, ongoing, individual job, one this church takes seriously as a collective whole. We know, as the Bible promises, that nothing is impossible with God. We've seen the truth of that promise.
